four years, things have changed greatly because obama policies. right now as i look out my window, i'm in the middle of nowhere, i see border control trucks going down the road for the drug smugglers bringing the drugs over. i used to see 400 footprints in my washes some nights. people smuggling. that's been stopped. and that has made so in the orchards up here our pay raise for mexican-americans and anglo-americans like me has gone from $7 an hour to $14 an hour. and now a husband and a wife can make $30 an hour together working at these things. what's happening is they cannot get guides from here to take them through the mountains anymore because they're like heck with that. i can get health insurance. working in the pistachio orchards. it is awesome. that's his policies of cracking down on the companies themselves. not that stupid border fence. it doesn't work at all. >> stephanie: and pistachios are yummy. i would like to point that out. to reach out to republicans in order to avoid the fiscal cliff. president obama first invited romney on election night when romney called to concede and the romney adviser said it is very gracious and the right thing to do. no aides will be present at today's meeting. the two will speak one on one. even though the two parties are saying they are willing to reach across the aisle during fiscal cliff negotiations, we're not seeing much in terms of a deal. the latest roadblock is the cost of federal retirement programs. republicans are staying is up to the president to cut back on medicare medicaid and social security but democrats want entitlement programs completely off the table. today, the white house is sending treasury secretary timothy geithner and congressional negotiator rob neighbor to capitol hill where they will lay out their proposal with speaker boehner. more bill press is coming up after the break. as always, we're live in our chat room and would love to see you there. current.com/billpress. we're rig

corruption and human rights violations. there were many other gaps in president obama's russia policy to help fill these gaps, i worked with my senate finance committee colleagues to add provisions to the permanent normal trade relations bill introduced by our chairman, chairman baucus, that addressed a number of these issues. first i work with senator kyl to develop language to further advance anticorruption efforts in russia by requiring the u.s. trade representative and the secretary of state to report annually on their efforts to promote the rule of law and u.s. investment in russia. we also included the provision to assist u.s. businesses, especially small businesses, to battle corruption in russia by requiring the secretary of commerce to devote a phone hotline and secure web site to allow u.s. citizens and businesses to report on corruption, bribery and attempted bribery in russia and to request the assistance of the u.s. government, if needed. i was also highly disappointed that the administration did not finalize an s.p.s. equivalency agreement with russia before agreeing to let them

wlorks is moving the goal posts. i think it's time right now for president obama to show the american people his full balanced plan. we haven't seen it. democrats haven't passed a budget in over three years. there's not one democrat that has voted for a plan yet. until republicans see the plan from the president, from democrats, it's very difficult for us to be compromising if anything. right now we're just negotiating with ourselves. that's really a pretty bad negotiating strategy. we should stop doing that, we should be talking about not playing brinkmanship. what we should do is extend all the current rates permanently. that would return certainty to the economy. it would restore confidence. and that's probably the biggest thing we need to do to grow our economy. let's quit having these fiscal cliffs. and let's not be threatening government shut downs. let's sit down in a good faith effort and that's what president obama is not doing. he's back on the campaign trail which will is unfortunate. he should be in washington here sitting down in a good faith effort to try and grow the ec

at harvard kennedy school where right this very minute senior campaign managers from the romney and obama campaign and every other campaign are being debriefed by top political reporters and it is interesting because obama clearly sees that he has a mandate out of the election on fiscal cliff issues. even though it wasn't a huge issue in the debate the white house is behaving like it has that mandate. what you have been seeing is republicans showing signs of flexibility and i am not just talking john boehner saying revenue is on the table. we have republican senators saying they will stand up to the grover norquist tax pledge. they're willing to break it which is pretty big news. we also have the influential member of congress, republican tom cole saying we have got to agree to extend the tax cut just for those people making $250,000 and below and letting the more wealthy be taxed. definitely flexibility but what you see from democrats is an unwillingness to do serious entitlement reform that would lead to reductions in spending. they want to kick the can down the road and do more of the
